On October 13th, I went to the second stop of Marina and the Diamond's Neon Nature Tour concert. It was very loud, and quite smelly (although not as much as ACL). It was held at Stubb's Bar-B-Q in downtown Austin, Texas; the doors opened at 7, but I stopped to get a bite to eat at Brick Oven Pizza a few blocks down. I didn't wear anything special or concert like; just white denim shorts and a plain pink v-neck shirt- with lots of booze around, it's never wise to wear precious clothing.
She had separated her concert into acts, with The Family Jewels being the first, then Electra Heart, and Froot last.
Shamir, a 20 year old artist in the same gemre played before her, and he was not to my taste- too electronic with an excess of bass. He was also drinking at his own concert my friend noted, although is yet to be 21.
Back to Marina! Her outfits were all sparkly jumpsuits, with custom Piers Atkinson London headbands- eccentric and sparkly to say the least. Her makeup- from my point in the middle-ish front-ish right surrounded by screaming fans- was very minimal, excluding some brightly colored lipstick.
Her setlist was varied, and embellished with her own touches, as to be expected. They all sounded very similar, which was a disappointment. The songs she sang were:
The Family Jewels
1.Mowgli's Road
2. I Am Not A Robot
3. Oh No!
4. Obsessions
5. Hollywood
Electra Heart
6. Bubblegum ___
7. Radioactive
8. How to Be a Heartbreaker
9. Primadonna
10. Lies
Froot
11. Froot
12. Forget
