.) Scrub up! Make a super yummy brown sugar scrub- there are tons of recipes on the net, so I couldn't decide on one. :) This will make your skin glow.
.) Apply liberally. And by this, I mean lip balm and lotion. I use rose salve for many things- even a last minute highlighter for my face.
.) Avoid lip products loaded with chemicals- these will dry out your poor skin even more. {!!!}
.) Pat your skin dry, not rub. Rubbing takes away skins natural oils.
.) A cream isn't always more hydrating. Light lotion may have the same main components of thicker creams. For instance, I alternate between a thick Shea nut butter and lavender cream I got at a spa and coconut oil. Try to look for non-comegdemic oils like primrose and almond oil. But: Creams have less water, and are better for dryer skin, but lotion is for everyday usage.
.) Put a humidifier in your bedroom. This will get more moisture in the air, which helps prevent your skin from drying out. The hot dry air blasting through your home can have a big effect on your skin.
.) Slather on sunscreen. The winter sun combined with snow glare is extremely damaging.
.) When showering, keep the temperature warm, not burning. I know, after a hike during the colder weather, you just want a nice hot shower, but this can strip away natural oils, just like #1.
.) Slap on some moisturizer after washing your hands, and make sure to rub some into your fingernails and elbows, which can become dry and cracked.
.) Scaly lips= gross. Get rid of those dragon lips by lightly exfoliating with the lip scrub mentioned in my Stocking Stuffers post! Then put on rose salve and hop to bed.
.) EXFOLIATE. EXFOLIATE. EXFOLIATE. I cannot stress this enough. Get a pumice stone, and scrub scrub scrub.
.) A healthy diet is essential- good fats are abundant in avocado's and salmon, so load up your plate!
.) Slather a thick cream on your heels and slip on fuzzy socks to moisturize your cracked heels. Peppermint oil or Vaseline works, but peppermint oil is more invigorating, yet less moisturizing.
I hope you enjoy this list and have a lovely New Year's!
